Outline of Daini Tokyo Bar Association
Daini Tokyo Bar Association (the "Association") is one of the three local bar associations consisting of attorneys with offices in Tokyo. It was established on March 30, 1926.
First,Tokyo Bar Association was established in Tokyo in 1893. Next, Dai-ichi Tokyo Bar Association separated from Tokyo Bar Association and was established as the second local bar association in Tokyo in 1923. The Association was established as the third bar association in Tokyo in 1926. At that time, the Association had a membership of 178, but it has grown to about 20 times that number and it now has approximately 3,400 members.
The three bar associations have equal status as local bar associations, and each bar association cooperates with the other associations to work toward fulfilling the mission of attorneys, which is to protect human rights and realize social justice. In July 1995, a new hall for attorneys was constructed.
The Japan Federation of Bar Associations, Tokyo Bar Association, Dai-ichi Tokyo Bar Association and the Association have all moved into the new building. The Association occupies the 8th through the 10th floors of the building.
