Our society is becoming more sophisticated and complicated. And corporate activities and our lifestyle are also changing rapidly.

Such an accelerating social change requires attorneys to perform an expanding role.

Always attentive to changing times and society, Daini Tokyo Bar Association is sincerely addressing and tackling new problems that continue to arise. We believe that we should be able to serve society in many more ways.

"Pioneering NIBEN" is an association dominated by an enterprising spirit and a culture of vigorous debate and opinions.

There are three bar associations in Tokyo; namely, Tokyo Bar Association, Dai-ichi Tokyo Bar Association, and Daini Tokyo Bar Association (NIBEN). Of the three, NIBEN is the youngest and considered to be dominated by an enterprising spirit and a culture of vigorous debate and opinions. Driven by such a culture, NIBEN is aggressively engaged in pioneering activities in many respects. NIBEN established the country's first "arbitration center" that is aimed at speedily and fairly settling civil disputes. NIBEN proposed the creation of law schools before the other bar associations did. NIBEN opened the country's second urban-based publicly-run legal counseling office, "Tokyo Frontier Foundation, Legal Professional Corporation." NIBEN was the first bar association in the country to draw up a basic gender equality program.

NIBEN is the country's second largest bar association with over 4,000 members.

NIBEN has more than 4,000 members. It is the country's largest bar association after the Tokyo Bar Association. The ratio of its female attorney ranks among the country's highest. NIBEN is also characterized by a large number of foreign special members as well as attorneys who work at large law firms. During recent years, NIBEN has been joined by many young attorneys. Now, more than half its members are attorneys who have been members no more than ten years. Their participation makes activities at NIBEN committees and workshops vigorous and aggressive.
